OpenMausBot (MausBot)
by Milind Soni
A team of AI bots in a chat app, on your own machine: the open-source alternative to Grok Bot.
View on GitHub →What it does
- Each bot is an agent (Claude Code, Codex, Grok, Hermes, OpenCode…) with its own personality, model and routines on a calendar
- Uses the CLIs and subscriptions you already have; Mac, Windows, Linux (.deb, AppImage) apps, phone companion
- Apache-2.0; data and keys stay local, but your prompts go to the model provider you choose
! This is not a local model: it drives the Claude, Codex, etc. CLIs. Your provider's fees and limits apply, and the MausBot cloud is paid and optional. Very young project (0.1.x versions) from a solo developer: give it limited access (dedicated folder, approvals). Warning: the repo states that no "Maus" cryptocurrency is linked to the project.
Install it
Requirements: An agent already installed and signed in (Claude Code or Codex for example); Linux x86-64, macOS or 64-bit Windows.
curl -LO https://github.com/milind-soni/openmausbot-releases/releases/latest/download/OpenMausBot-amd64.deb
sudo apt install ./OpenMausBot-amd64.deb
The prompt for your agent
Paste it into your coding agent: it checks the requirements and installs it for you.
Install OpenMausBot (MausBot) (https://github.com/milind-soni/OpenMausBot) on my machine.
1. Check the requirements: An agent already installed and signed in (Claude Code or Codex for example); Linux x86-64, macOS or 64-bit Windows. If anything is missing, tell me before installing anything.
2. Follow the official method:
- Download the official .deb (Ubuntu/Debian): curl -LO https://github.com/milind-soni/openmausbot-releases/releases/latest/download/OpenMausBot-amd64.deb
- Install: sudo apt install ./OpenMausBot-amd64.deb
3. Check that it works, then explain how to launch it and where to start.
Always review what your agent is about to run, especially install commands.
